Launched in Milan in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian exports of furnishing and accessories, the Salone del Mobile is the global benchmark event for the furnishing and design sector. The Salone is held in Milan in April every year, during Milan Design Week, along with the biennial Euroluce exhibition in odd years and EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition in even years, and in tandem with the annual International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and Workplace3.0.

Being one of the biggest names in the Italian luxury brand‘s world, Roberto Cavalli Interiors has a regular presence at Salone del Mobile. In 2018, the brand joined the Tahiti chaise longue to its permanent collection after the chair’s success at the 2017 edition of the event.

Tom is a restless innovator who works mainly in lighting, accessories and furniture. From his departure point in the early eighties, he has constantly reinvented himself through a series of different design lives – working with luxury Italian goods with Cappellini, Creative Director at Habitat and Artek, creating Plastics company Eurolounge and finally instigating his own eponymous brand in 2002 to rethink the product designer’s relationship with industry.
Zaha Hadid Design (ZHD) was established in 2006 by Zaha Hadid and operates under the lead of Co-Directors Woody Yao and Maha Kutay. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary design, ZHD implements the latest technological and material advancements in design, in collaboration with the world’s most respected brands. The brand has been showcasing at Salone del Mobile for several years, continuing to wow visitors with its amazing design.
With a differentiating signature style and over 40 years of experience, Kelly Hoppen is clearly an icon and one of the most celebrated interior designers in the world. Through the years, she has received multiple awards, been featured in numerous publications and collaborated with several selected brands. Based in London, Hoppen is known for the idea of giving the most personalized and proper interiors for the client’s lifestyle.
Jean Nouvel is one of the most innovative influential architects of our time. Throughout his career, the French architect has created plenty of astonishing projects, such as museums, concert halls, theatres and hotels. His atelier is one of the largest architecture practices in France, with a team of skilled professionals.
Throughout his career, Pesce’s exuberant work has experimented with colour and industrial materials like polyurethane foam, resin, and plastics. Recent projects have been inspired by natural forms, like a couch that looks like a mountain range and tables that call to mind bodies of water (complete with miniature beaches and islands). But perhaps his most radical innovation is the combination of social commentary and design. Pesce’s brings his collectable design pieces to Salone del Mobile, showing Italy’s strong connection with craftsmanship.
Fornasetti’s ‘Theme and Variations’ have come to comprise hundreds of transformations, alterations, ironic re-imaginations and decorative re-interpretations over the years. The artist deployed his infinite imagination towards Cavalieri’s melancholy eyes and plump lips, adapting the face to be framed in a variety of surreal scenarios and situations. This amazing interpretation has taken Italian craftsmanship across the globe.
Starting from the end of the 90s, the Nilufar Gallery knew how to cut out its own space and become the reference point to lovers of historical design as well as to people following the evolution of contemporary design, above all within that more learned, poetic and visionary area shifting between production and contemporary art. Nina Yashar, the gallery founder, works with her sister Nilu and a team of five people.
Gallery Rossana Orlandi was opened in 2002 in a former tie Factory in the Magenta neighbourhood, the gallery has been forecasting along the years new and upcoming designers and establishing the premise as one of the most revered platforms for avant-garde Design and Lifestyle.
